Environmental impact
I strive to be as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible in the studio and practices.
Postage and delivery
Postage costs have been calculated using Australia Post pricing and satchels. If you are buying multiple items and the delivery price seems above the normal charge, please get in touch with me, and I will do my best to find the most affordable postage price for you. Sometimes all it takes is a little refolding of a creation, and your items fit perfectly into the nominated Australia Post Satchel or delivery method. So please get in touch.
For my customers in Maclean and Gulmarrad, there is a local delivery charge of $3. Unfortunately, if you are located outside of these areas, you will need to pay for postage. However, you can contact me to arrange a pickup or to meet in either Maclean or Gulmarrad.
Where possible, I use satchels made of recycled plastics or reuse clean incoming cardboard boxes and environmentally safe biodegradable packing peanuts and brown paper or newspaper.
Dye
I use professional-quality dyes and techniques to create vibrant and durable items that are free from color bleeding, transfer, or fading. It is important for me to continuously update my skills to keep my work interesting and evolving while remaining true to my style and ethical practices, all while ensuring minimal environmental impact. Whenever possible, I purchase products and materials from companies that share my values and have practices in place to reduce their environmental impact.
Fabric Content
Due to the nature of the dye I use, most of the items are made from 100% cotton, bamboo, or other natural fibers—without any synthetic materials. I utilise both brand new and preloved blanks, and this information is clearly stated in each item’s listing. My decision to incorporate preloved items stems from my love of upcycling, the increasing challenge of sourcing high-quality blanks at a reasonable price, and my commitment to reducing the vast amount of landfill waste generated each year. By using preloved materials, I aim to do my part to lessen the environmental impact associated with producing new products.
Shirt Sizing
I prefer using men's and boys' shirts because the sizing tends to be more uniform. If measurements laid flat are not provided in the listing, I am happy to take them for you to ensure the correct sizing. Just let me know which shirt or shirts you are interested in, and I'll assist you!
Washing
I advise washing all items in cold water, with similar colors, and for the first few washes, perhaps wash them by themselves. A little color may come out for a wash or two, but this is normal. Hang out without delay and do not use bleach.
If intended for baby wear or sensitive skin, I would recommend you wash before use in your preferred washing product.
Loved Again
The Loved Again items, take me back to the days when Gran’s and Grampa’s would re-use and recycle almost everything and repurpose it into something else or generally fix what they had. When life was a lot simpler and there was a lot less waste.
In this section, you will find items that are created using recycled, upcycled, or preloved items. They have been cleaned before dying and in some instances, professionally cleaned. When the creation is finished and ready to wear, you can expect a minimum of 7 washes and possibly up to 10 washes in the time it was acquired by me and when you receive it.
The dying practices and techniques used are no different than using new blanks, so rest assured you have a quality wearable work of art.
By using pre-loved items, not only are we helping to lower the huge amount of landfill that is dumped daily, but we are also helping to lessen the carbon footprint. In addition, the practices used to make these creations are as sustainable and environmentally safe as possible.
